Calculation

There are two calculation methods:
Start Calculation Buttons:

Auto is a very fast method, optimal for large quantities of cut parts. Each time it is started, the optimized cut list will differ slightly, so you can choose the solution you like best.
Manual is a slower method, but with a better optimization. When this method is used, you have to set optimization manually for each panel .

Automatic method

After clicking the Auto button, CutMaster 2D will calculate the optimal cutting list.
Statistics report will be visible in the lower right area of the screen:
Cut List Statistics:

If you are satisfied with the results, you can proceed to view and print the cut list. Otherwise, you can start the calculation again as many times as you like, until you are satisfied with figures in the result.

Manual method

After clicking the Manual button, you will be presented with the calculation setup screen.
Cancel - Cancel calculation and return to main screen.

O.Y% - Overall Yield. When the panel utilization percentage reaches this value, calculation will stop. By default, it is set to 92%. Changing this parameter can dramatically increase calculation speed in some cases.

Alpha - Sets calculation complexity. By default, it is set to 0.001. The maximum value is 1. Usually, values ranging from 0.001 to 0.050 will produce the best results. The higher the alpha, the longer it will take to calculate the cut list. Take a look at some examples of how alpha affects calculations.

Start - Starts calculation.

Stop - Stops calculation.

OK - Accepts calculated layout for the current panel, and proceeds to the next panel in the list. If there are no more panels in the list, the program will return to the main screen.

When the layout calculation for a panel is finished, the program will show you the best solution. You can view and select other variations as well:
Sheet Navigation and Status Bar

Simply move the slider to view and select the variation you like best. When you are satisfied press OK to start the next panel calculation.
The status bar shows maximum overall yield, current position in the list, number of layout combinations, and the amount of time the last calculation took.
